About Renault
Summary
Renault made its official entry into India with the Fluence in 2005. Before this, the company had come to India with the Logan as a JV with Mahindra. The French company has set-up a plant in JV with its now sister concern Nissan. Both the companies have a plant and research and development centre in Chennai. Both these brands are working on developing new platforms that has made it possible to make a lot more products for the Indian car market and at the same time even export it to other car markets.
Its first successful product ever was the Duster in 2012 and then its first made in India product was launched In 2016 in the form of the the Kwid, which is a game changing product for the company. There are a lot more products like the Kwid that will be launched in the coming few years. All these are based on the new CMF-A platform that has been localised. The operations of this plant commenced in 2011 and now it is one of the largest car exporter from India as a JV with Nissan.
Product & Services
Renault has been very aggressive with its product and network strategy. In about three years, the company has a dealership network of 150 showrooms across the country. This includes major cities, urban towns and semi-urban areas. The company has even introduced aggressive products like the Duster, Kwid, Triber mini MPV as well as the Kiger compact SUV. The company is also doing a CSR activity where it is educating people on road safety.
Founder And First Car
Renault Corporation was founded in 1899 under the name of Society Renault Freres. This company was formed by Louis Renault, Fernand Renault and Marcel Renault. The three brothers looked into the company into different aspects, while Louis was the engineer who was designing the vehicles. The Renault brand got AG1 fleet taxi cars. Renault had become one of the largest automakers in France and it still is.
