Founder And First Car
The Aston Martin was founded by Robert Bamford and Lionel Martin in 1913. In the beginning, the two men were indulged in selling Singer cars from their residential premises located in Callow Street, London. Here they also provided servicing for Calthorpe and GWK vehicles. Once Martin participated in Aston hill climbing race located near Austin Clinton. The two men decided to make their own car for this purpose. The car was named as Aston Martin, Martin developed this car by installing a 4-pot Coventry-Simplex mill with a 1908 Isotta-Fraschini chassis. The partners later purchased a factory in Kensington to produce their first car in 1915.
