Nexon EV Expert Review
What is it?
Tata is back yet again with another special edition of its SUV range and this time around it is the Jet Edition. Built on the theme of Business Jets, Tata has said that these special editions have been created with those in mind who love the concept of opulence, luxury and the exclusivity that a business Jet offers. This special edition joins the likes of the Adventure Edition, Kaziranga Edition, Gold Edition and of course the Harrier Dark Edition that started this trend in 2019.
Launch and pricing
The Jet Edition theme is available with the Tata Nexon, Tata Nexon EV, Tata Harrier and the Tata Safari. In the Nexon and Nexon EV, it is based on the XZ+ and XZ+ Lux trim levels while in the Harrier and safari it is based on the XZ trim level. This means fully loaded cars and also ties into the luxury business Jet theme that Tata is going for with these vehicles. The Jet range was launched in India on 27 August and is available for booking in all Tata showrooms and on their official websites respectively.
Tata Nexon and Nexon EV Jet Edition
The Tata Nexon Jet Edition range is priced from Rs 12.13 lakh to Rs 14.08 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi). As a part of the special edition theme, it gets a new exterior colour-Starlight which is essentially a combination of bronze with a silver-coloured roof. You also get Jet black alloy wheels and silver skid plates. Inside Tata has fitted the car with a white and black interior colour scheme with chrome inserts in the centre console. You also get bronze accents on the doors and the floor. Finally, there’s also Jet stitching on the headrests.
The fully loaded XZ+ trim of the Nexon gets features like a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Climate control with rear AC vents, an air filter, ventilated front seats, height adjustment for the driver’s seat and wireless charging, the last of which is new to the Jet Edition. Here are the top features of the Tata Nexon Jet Edition.
The Tata Nexon Jet Edition is available with both petrol and diesel power and in automatic and manual transmission. Both the petrol and diesel engines are 1.2-litre turbo-charged engines mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automated manual. It is a similar story to the Nexon EV Jet Edition with the same exterior and interior colour schemes and feature list. The Jet treatment is being offered on the XZ+ Lux trim level for both the Nexon EV Max and Nexon EV Prime.
Tata Harrier and Safari Jet Edition
Like the Tata Nexon and Nexon EV Jet Edition, the Harrier and Safari Jet Edition get the new exterior colour-Starlight, a combination of bronze with a silver coloured roof. Also part of the package is Jet black alloy wheels and silver skid plates. Inside Tata has fitted both the car with a white and black colour scheme and chrome inserts in the centre console. You also get bronze accents on the doors and the floor. Finally, there’s also Jet stitching on the headrests.
Both cars now get safety functions like Driver Doze off alert, Panic Brake alert, and After Impact Braking. These features will be over and above the existing 14 safety functions already present with both models. Additionally, the inclusion of a C-type USB charger in all rows for both cars, Winged Comfort Head Restraints on the second-row bench and captain seats (only in the Safari), Electronic parking brake in manual and automatic along with all four disc brakes which are new to the Harrier.
Both the Tata Harrier and Safari jet Editions are powered by 2.0-litre diesel engines that can be had with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The Harrier and Safari jet Edition range is priced from Rs 20.90 lakh to Rs 22.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Conclusion
Tata now has a large list of special editions offering one of the widest choices in terms of customisation for its vehicles. At the time of writing this story, the Jet Editions were priced Rs 13,000 more than their equivalent standard models making it quite a deal if you want a step up.
The Nexon is a rival for the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Mahindra Bolero Neo, Maruti Brezza and Toyota Urban Cruiser. The Nexon EV is in a category of its own but will soon be joined by the XUV400.
The Tata Harrier takes on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks and the MG Hector while the Safari battles it out with the MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar and the Jeep Compass.
