About Volkswagen Virtus
Market launch
Volkswagen launched the all-new Virtus in India on 9 June, 2022. The automaker has developed this sedan on the same MQB A0 IN platform as the Taigun, Skoda Slavia, and the Skoda Kushaq. That said, Volkswagen offers the Virtus in six paint options.
Feature list
The Virtus bears modern design language similar to its siblings but also carries a few exterior elements reminiscent of the Jetta and Passat. Moreover, it gets LED headlights and rear fog lamps. You also get fog lamps with cornering lights, LED taillights, a rear-view camera with parking sensors, an electric sunroof, ESC, HHC, TPMS, multi-collision brakes, and 16-inch alloy wheels. On the other hand, the Performance Line variant features GT badges on the radiator grille and fenders, a black ducktail spoiler, and black alloy wheels.
The Virtus comes with a dual-tone interior with leather and leatherette upholstery for the seats. Additionally, the cabin gets cooled front seats, a wireless phone charging pad, an eight-inch digital driver display, a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an eight-speaker sound system.
Engine, transmission and performance
The Volkswagen Virtus is powered by two powertrains of which both are BS6 2.0 and E20 compliant in addition to meeting the RDE norms. The first is a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine making 114bhp/175Nm and a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol motor generating 148bhp/250Nm. The former can be mated to a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox, while the latter is solely paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
